Quick decision guide

  • Consider AnalystPrep if you want notes, videos, and practice in one package, or if lifetime access to both parts would make a flexible study schedule easier.
  • Consider Bionic Turtle if you enjoy working through detailed problems and using a forum to investigate the reasoning behind a solution.
  • Consider Kaplan Schweser if printed notes, online practice, and study-planning tools suit your routine, with an option to add a full on-demand class through Premium.

A useful FRM prep course comparison starts with how you intend to study. Do you want to read a printed book, work through video lessons, or spend time discussing why a quantitative solution works? Your budget matters, but so does whether you can use the materials through your intended exam date.

This comparison covers AnalystPrep, Bionic Turtle, and Kaplan Schweser. The aim is to help you choose a package that fits your schedule and learning preferences. There is no overall ranking, and my affiliate relationships do not determine the comparison criteria.

FRM prep courses at a glance

The starting comparison uses AnalystPrep Learn + Practice, Bionic Turtle Foundation, and Kaplan Essential. Each combines study notes with question practice and mocks. They are not identical: AnalystPrep and Bionic Turtle include instructional videos at these tiers, while Kaplan places its full OnDemand Class in Premium.

Prices are displayed package prices in US dollars as of September 11, 2026, before any coupon. They are not verified checkout totals or claims about a discount from a list price. Check any tax, shipping, and your chosen exam window before payment. On a phone, scroll the table horizontally.

How I compared the providers

The product comparison is based on official package pages, feature tables, FAQs, and purchase policies checked on September 11, 2026. I compared package scope, access, learning materials, practice, support, and purchase restrictions. Where official pages disagreed, I have identified the uncertainty rather than selected the more attractive claim.

My first-person experience is limited to using Bionic Turtle while preparing for both parts of the FRM exam. That historical experience is separate from this source-based assessment of the current products. This is not a hands-on test of the current interfaces of all three providers.

Candidate-fit statements below are my interpretation of the documented features. They are not measured pass-rate comparisons. A longer question bank, a more expensive tier, or a provider’s marketing label does not establish that a particular candidate will learn more effectively.

AnalystPrep FRM prep

Learning format and materials

Learn + Practice brings together video lessons, study notes, a question bank, mocks, and a formula sheet. Digital and printable materials allow a mix of screen-based study and paper review. AnalystPrep’s FAQ says its web platform works on phones and tablets, but it does not offer a mobile app.

Practice and mocks

AnalystPrep advertises more than 1,500 Part I questions and more than 2,000 Part II questions. Treat those as provider-reported bank counts, not proof of superior exam coverage.

Its mock materials include computer-based and PDF formats. The Part I mock page says two full-length exams in one place and three in another. Confirm the count in the package you intend to buy. Automatically generated quizzes should also be distinguished from separate authored mock exams.

Support and study tools

The Part I Learn + Practice page lists performance tracking, five Ask-A-Tutor questions, and 24/7 technical support. The two-part Unlimited package lists unlimited Ask-A-Tutor questions. Technical help and instructional question allowances are different benefits; a technical-support promise does not mean unlimited personal tutoring.

Pricing and access

The displayed single-part prices are $349 for Practice and $499 for Learn + Practice, with 12 months of access. The $799 Unlimited package covers both parts with lifetime access and future curriculum updates. These are September 11, 2026 prices; the lifetime offer is a different product from a single-part subscription.

Strengths, tradeoffs, and candidate fit

My assessment: the combination of notes, video, and practice may suit someone who wants to move between explanation and application. The lifetime bundle is worth considering if your timeline for completing both parts is uncertain. Paying for both parts upfront still ties up more money than buying one part first.

Use the free samples before purchasing. AnalystPrep’s terms make FRM sales final because downloadable material becomes available immediately. Its Unlimited access policy should not be read as a promise that you will pass or receive a refund.

Bionic Turtle FRM prep

Learning format and materials

Bionic Turtle’s Foundation and Mastery comparison tables both include instructional videos, PDF study notes, and PDF question sets. Mastery adds learning spreadsheets, formula sheets, focus review videos, and live online review sessions. Verify the live timetable for your part and exam sitting before paying for that feature.

Practice and mocks

Both tiers include an interactive question platform and supplemental mocks 1 and 2. Bionic Turtle explains that some practice problems intentionally require more steps or depth than an exam question. Solutions and forum discussion are part of its teaching approach.

The practice-question page uses different totals for different collections, including planner and historical forum material. Those are not a clean current per-part bank count, so I do not use them to rank Bionic Turtle’s question volume against competitors.

Support and study tools

The forum is the channel for questions about concepts and solutions; both tiers include full forum access and support. Account and purchase questions go through customer support. Bionic Turtle says curriculum resources are updated progressively and does not guarantee every resource type for every reading or chapter.

Pricing and access

The individual product pages display Foundation at $519 and Mastery at $949 for either part as of September 11, 2026. Access lasts one year from purchase and includes materials released during that year. A paid three-month extension requires contacting support before the subscription expires; the FAQ says expired subscriptions cannot be reactivated.

Strengths, tradeoffs, and candidate fit

I personally used Bionic Turtle while preparing for both parts of the FRM exam. That is the scope of my personal-use statement; it is not a claim that I have tested the current platform.

My assessment: its problem-and-discussion approach may appeal to someone who wants to understand a calculation beyond memorizing a formula. Candidates working to a tight schedule should decide how much time they can devote to deeper problems. Check the tier table carefully if spreadsheets or live review are important to you.

Refunds are discretionary, not an unconditional trial: the terms require a request within five business days of receiving purchased materials and no more than ten eBook pages viewed. Read that policy before exploring paid materials.

Kaplan Schweser FRM prep

Learning format and materials

Essential includes printed and digital SchweserNotes, QuickSheet, and an online Resource Library. Premium adds the full OnDemand Class, OnDemand Review, and Secret Sauce review material. Essential’s reference videos should not be confused with the complete class available in Premium.

Practice and mocks

Both packages include SchweserPro QBank, topic quizzes, checkpoint exams, and two full-length mock exams for the selected part. Performance Tracker provides a way to monitor work across the online tools. I did not establish a comparable current per-part question-bank total from the checked package tables.

Support and study tools

Essential and Premium include the Activity Feed and Kaplan Schweser Community forum. InstructorLink, which lets students send questions to an FRM instructor, is listed in Premium. Choose the higher tier if that specific instructor-access channel is an important part of your intended study routine.

Pricing and access

For Part I, the displayed prices are $499 Essential and $899 Premium. Part II is $549 Essential and $949 Premium. The pages checked on September 11, 2026 were set to November 2026, with online access expiring December 31, 2026. That is an exam-window end date, not twelve months from your purchase.

PassProtection provides conditional access to the same online package for the next sitting after a failed attempt or a GARP-approved deferral. It applies to eligible Essential/Premium purchases within 36 months of the original purchase and requires proof of same-part exam registration through customer service. Updated printed materials for a new curriculum year cost $49 plus shipping.

Strengths, tradeoffs, and candidate fit

My assessment: Kaplan may suit readers who want a printed-book routine supported by online quizzes and planning tools. Premium offers a clear route to add structured class and review instruction. The access deadline deserves attention if you are buying long before your exam, and PassProtection should be evaluated against its eligibility terms.

Kaplan offers a seven-day trial for either part with samples of its tools and the first OnDemand class. It is limited to one trial per user, begins on first login, and must be started within 300 days of initial access. Its return policy varies by format: online cancellations generally require action within 14 days of access, incur a 10% administration fee, and are unavailable within 30 days of the exam; use can reduce the refund. Downloads/eBooks are final sale, and print/package returns have separate conditions. This is not an unconditional money-back guarantee.

Choosing for your study routine

The best FRM prep courses for your situation are the ones whose materials you will actually use. These are conditional fit judgments based on the features above.

  • If budget is the binding constraint: compare the same part and the features you need. AnalystPrep Practice costs less than Learn + Practice because the packages differ. A low starting price for a question-focused package is not a like-for-like saving over a package with teaching materials.
  • If you learn through video: examine the samples and lesson structure. AnalystPrep Learn + Practice and Bionic Turtle Foundation include instructional videos; Kaplan’s full class requires Premium. Inclusion alone does not tell you whose explanations you will prefer.
  • If you want to unpack quantitative reasoning: Bionic Turtle’s detailed questions and linked discussion are worth examining. Allow time to distinguish deeper learning problems from timed exam practice.
  • If you prefer a book and a study plan: Kaplan Essential’s printed notes, Activity Feed, and online practice may suit that routine without requiring the full class package.
  • If your schedule may change: compare AnalystPrep’s lifetime bundle with Bionic Turtle’s one-year access and Kaplan’s exam-window access plus conditional PassProtection. Those policies solve different timing problems.

My confirmed partner offers are RYAN20 for 20% off AnalystPrep FRM and ROCFIN15 for 15% off Bionic Turtle FRM, as of September 11, 2026. Confirm that the discount applies to your selected package in the merchant checkout before paying.

The two AnalystPrep and Bionic Turtle affiliate offer boxes contain selectable codes and merchant links. Enter the relevant code yourself and review the resulting order total. I do not claim the links automatically apply a coupon.

Making your choice

Start with your preferred way of learning, then check the package’s support and access terms against your exam plan. Look at sample explanations before you commit. A discount is useful when the underlying course suits your needs; it does not settle the choice by itself.

Frequently asked questions

Which FRM prep provider should I choose?

Match the course to your routine: AnalystPrep for a notes/video/practice combination or lifetime bundle; Bionic Turtle for detailed problem-solving with forum discussion; Kaplan for printed notes and planning tools, with full classes in Premium. Those are potential fits, not an overall ranking.

Do all three offer Part I and Part II preparation?

Yes. All three have packages for each part. AnalystPrep also displays a two-part Unlimited bundle. The Bionic Turtle and Kaplan prices in this article are for individual parts, not a combined two-part purchase.

Which has the most questions and mock exams?

The available counts are not consistent enough for a defensible volume ranking. AnalystPrep reports per-part bank counts but conflicting Part I mock totals; Bionic Turtle’s published totals mix collections and historical forum scope. Kaplan’s package tables specify two full-length mocks per part without establishing a comparable bank total. Look at question quality, explanations, and format as well as quantity.

How long can I access the course?

AnalystPrep single-part packages provide 12 months; Unlimited provides lifetime access to both parts. Bionic Turtle provides one year from purchase. Kaplan uses a selected exam-window deadline, with separate PassProtection eligibility for repeat access. Verify the date for your exact order.

How do the affiliate coupon codes work?

Use RYAN20 for 20% off eligible AnalystPrep FRM purchases or ROCFIN15 for 15% off eligible Bionic Turtle FRM purchases. These partner offers were confirmed September 11, 2026. Follow the relevant affiliate link, enter the code at checkout, and confirm the discount on your selected order. The links do not promise to apply a code automatically.

Can I try the materials or get a refund?

AnalystPrep provides free samples but treats FRM sales as final. Bionic Turtle’s refund requests face short time and viewing limits and remain discretionary. Kaplan offers one seven-day trial per user, starting at first login within 300 days of initial access; returns depend on format, timing, fees, and use. Read the linked policies before purchasing rather than assuming a course has an unconditional refund guarantee.

Does GARP endorse these providers?

GARP’s exam-preparation provider directory lists all three. GARP also states that it does not endorse or warrant the listed providers’ products or services. Directory inclusion should not be presented as an endorsement of a course’s quality or pass-rate claims.
