About This Template
Analyze Bitcoin mining profitability with this ready-to-use Excel template. Enter your hardware specs, electricity costs, and current market conditions to instantly calculate daily and monthly profit projections, break-even Bitcoin price, and hardware payback period.
What You Can Calculate
This spreadsheet calculates seven key mining metrics:
- Daily BTC Earned โ Your expected Bitcoin earnings based on hash rate share of the network, after pool fees
- Daily Revenue โ BTC earnings converted to USD at your specified Bitcoin price
- Daily Power Cost โ Electricity expense based on your hardware's wattage and local rates
- Daily & Monthly Profit โ Net returns after subtracting power costs from revenue
- Operating Break-Even BTC Price โ The minimum Bitcoin price needed to cover your electricity costs
- Payback Period โ Days to recover your hardware investment from mining profits
Required Inputs
Enter these values to run your analysis:
- Hash Rate (TH/s) โ Your miner's hashrate (e.g., Antminer S19 Pro = 110 TH/s)
- Power Consumption (Watts) โ Hardware power draw from spec sheet
- Electricity Rate ($/kWh) โ Your local electricity cost
- Bitcoin Price ($) โ Current or projected BTC price
- Network Hashrate (EH/s) โ Total Bitcoin network hash power (check mempool.space)
- Hardware Cost ($) โ Your miner purchase price for payback calculation
- Pool Fee (%) โ Mining pool fee (typically 1-2%)
Methodology
Daily BTC earnings are calculated as your share of network hashpower multiplied by daily block rewards (144 blocks ร 3.125 BTC), adjusted for pool fees. The break-even price divides your daily power cost by daily BTC earned to find the minimum viable Bitcoin price.
Assumptions & Limitations
- Uses current 3.125 BTC block reward (post-April 2024 halving)
- Assumes constant network difficulty over the analysis period
- Does not include transaction fee revenue
- 100% uptime assumed; no maintenance or cooling costs included
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Copy the Calculator sheet and change the electricity rate input to compare profitability at different rates. The web calculator includes a built-in sensitivity table; replicate this by creating scenarios at $0.05, $0.10, and $0.15/kWh.
Create multiple scenarios with progressively lower daily BTC values to simulate rising network difficulty. For example, reduce daily_btc by 3-5% per month in each scenario row.
Manually add an estimated fee revenue to the daily_revenue output. Transaction fees vary significantly but typically add 5-15% to block subsidy revenue during high-fee periods.
