About This Template

Perform comparable companies (comps) valuation analysis with this professional Trading Multiples Excel template. Enter your EV/EBITDA peer multiple and target company financials to instantly calculate implied enterprise value, equity value, and share price.

What You Can Calculate

This template delivers three key valuation outputs used in investment banking and equity research:

  • Implied Enterprise Value - The total firm value derived from applying your peer multiple to target EBITDA
  • Implied Equity Value - Enterprise value adjusted for net debt, showing what shareholders would receive
  • Implied Share Price - Per-share valuation for comparison against current market price

Required Inputs

You'll need four data points to run the analysis:

  • EV/EBITDA Multiple - The median trading multiple from your peer universe (typically 5x-15x for most industries)
  • Target EBITDA - Last twelve months EBITDA in millions
  • Net Debt - Total debt minus cash; enter negative for net cash positions
  • Diluted Shares - Fully diluted share count using Treasury Stock Method

Methodology

The template follows the standard valuation bridge used in M&A and equity analysis:

  • Implied EV = EV/EBITDA Multiple x Target EBITDA
  • Implied Equity = Implied EV - Net Debt
  • Implied Price = Implied Equity / Diluted Shares

Assumptions & Limitations

  • Single-multiple analysis using EV/EBITDA only
  • LTM EBITDA basis - no forward projections
  • Net Debt excludes preferred stock and noncontrolling interest
  • Peer multiple and target EBITDA must use consistent basis
