About This Template
Build confidence intervals for means and proportions with this ready-to-use Excel template. Whether you are analyzing sample data for classwork, research, or workplace projects, this calculator gives you auditable statistical results you can save and share.
What You Can Calculate
Switch between three interval types using a simple dropdown:
- T-Interval - For means when population standard deviation is unknown (most common)
- Z-Interval - For means when population standard deviation is known
- Proportion Interval - For binary outcomes using the Wald (normal approximation) method
Each mode calculates point estimate, standard error, critical value, margin of error, and the final confidence interval bounds.
Required Inputs
- Interval Type - Select t-interval, z-interval, or proportion from the dropdown
- Sample Mean or Proportion - Your observed statistic
- Standard Deviation - Sample std dev (s) for t-interval, or population std dev for z-interval
- Sample Size - Number of observations (must be at least 2)
- Confidence Level - Choose 90%, 95%, 98%, or 99%
Methodology
The template uses standard statistical formulas for confidence interval construction including t-intervals with sample standard deviation, z-intervals with known population standard deviation, and Wald proportion intervals with normal approximation.
