About This Template
Instantly calculate Free Cash Flow to Firm (FCFF) with this professional Excel template. Enter your income statement values and watch the waterfall derivation unfold - from Revenue through EBITDA, EBIT, and NOPAT to the final FCFF figure. Perfect for corporate finance analysts, investment banking professionals, and finance students learning DCF valuation fundamentals.
What You Can Calculate
This template computes five key metrics in a step-by-step waterfall:
- EBITDA - Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization
- EBIT - Operating income after depreciation
- NOPAT - Net operating profit after tax (the tax-adjusted operating income)
- FCFF - Free cash flow to firm, the cash available to all capital providers
- FCFF Margin - Free cash flow as a percentage of revenue
Required Inputs
Enter seven values from your income statement and cash flow statement:
- Revenue and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
- Operating Expenses (excluding depreciation)
- Depreciation and Amortization
- Corporate Tax Rate
- Capital Expenditures (CapEx)
- Change in Net Working Capital (positive or negative)
Methodology
The template follows the standard unlevered free cash flow derivation: FCFF = NOPAT + Depreciation - CapEx - Change in NWC. This approach, used in DCF valuation, isolates cash flows available to all capital providers before financing decisions.
Assumptions and Limitations
- Single-period calculation (not multi-year projections)
- Tax losses assumed immediately usable
- Operating expenses exclude depreciation
- Change in NWC covers operating working capital only
